Arctic Spring Water from Greenland

Disko Island, located on the West Coast of Greenland, is home to thousands of natural springs.

Yet one stands out as truly exceptional: The Uunartuarsuk Spring. Naturally filtered it provides some of the purest and most balanced water on our planet.

Imivik of Greenland holds the exclusive privilege of tapping this pristine gift of arctic nature, offering it respectfully to you - and the rest of the world.

PRESERVING PURITY

How We Tap

Water is delicate and highly sensitive to its environment, so we take every measure to not interfere with its natural state.

The Uunartuarsuk Spring is carefully tapped directly as it emerges from the bedrock, and the water is bottled in bottles and sealed, air-tight containers less than two kilometers from its source.

The Amazing
Disko Island

Disko Island is the youngest island in the region. The island is formed by basalt from volcanic activity.

The glacier Uunartuarsuup Sermia on Disko Island has been formed by snow and rain over thousands of years.

During summer, ice and snow from the glacier melt and find their way as spring water through vertical cracks in basalt rock - a series of solidified lava flows.

The spring water is exceptionally pure, as it originates from precipitation in an atmosphere free from pollution. It is very soft and has a naturally alkaline pH value of 9.38.

On its long journey inside the mountains, from glacier to spring, the water is further filtered and purified. Within the basalt layers, the spring water flows through the lava streams, whose porous tops contain tiny cavities filled with zeolite minerals. These minerals naturally absorb, store, and neutralize any potential impurities in the water.

As the water continues its journey, it undergoes further filtration through a layer of loose sandstone.

The name “Uunartuarsuk" translates to” the little warm one” as its temperature is a steady 1.4°C. This unique warmth has created a rare microclimate, resulting in botanical diversity seldom seen in Greenland.

The moss is a vibrant green while the wildflowers bloom in an array of vivid colors and subtle hues. The striking contrast between the stark black basalt rock and lush vegetation makes this location a true natural wonder.

With an annual flow of 525 million liters, we collect only the water that melts naturally. We would never interfere with what nature has so meticulously perfected. For this reason, the area is carefully protected - any human disturbance could jeopardize the delicate balance of this incredible ecosystem.
