Greenland’s Purest natural water from lyngmarkskilden at Qeqertarsuaq

Disko Island, located on the Westcoast of Greenland, is home to thousands of natural springs. Yet one stands out as truly exceptional: The Uunartuarsuk spring. Natural filtered it provides what may be some of the purest water on our planet.

Imivik of Greenland holds the exclusive privilege of tapping from this pristine source of nature and respectfully offer it to you - and the rest of the world.

PRESERVING PURITY

Unspoiled
Spring Water

Water is delicate and highly sensitive, and we take every measure to keep any interferences away from these extraordinary drops. The Uunartuarsuk Spring is carefully encapsulated to prevent atmospheric influences from reaching the water. As close to the spring as possible, we tap the water in sealed air-tight containers.

The Secret
of Disko Island

Disko Island is the youngest island in Greenland with a history stretching back only 60 million years. The island is formed by basalt from volcano activity and geological surveys has revealed coal layers.

As the glacier atop slowly melts at its bottom layer due to thermic activity, the water gently seeps through the porous basalt rock, compacted sediments and coal layers, undergoing a natural filtration process.

Naturally Melted Glacier Water

What Makes the
Water Ultra-Clean?

The water from the Uunartuarsuup Sermia glacier originates from ice that froze thousands of years ago, during a time when the atmosphere was virtually free from human pollution.

Over millions of years, the immense weight of the glacier has compressed and compacted sediment layers, and when the water seeps through, particles get filtered out. Coal layers act like a sponge, removing additional impurities while the porous basalt further purifies the water.

The water has a remarkably high oxygen content of 7.0 mg/liter, a testament to its high purity. Because organic material consumes oxygen, the absence of impurities ensures that the water retains all its oxygen.

The result is soft, alkaline spring water with a pH of 9.4 at the source, and an impressively low total dissolved solids (TDS) of 32 mg/L.

Ultra-pure in other words.

525 millions liters

Surrounded by Pristine Nature

The name “Uunartuarsuk" translates to” the little warm one” as its temperature is a steady 1.6°C. This has created a unique botanical diversity around the spring rarely seen in Greenland.

The Moss on Disco Island

The moss is a vibrant green while the wildflowers bloom in an array of vivid colors and subtle hues. The striking contrast between black basalt rock and lush vegetation makes this location a true natural wonder.

Uunartuarsuk Spring flows at 438 million liters per year and we only collect the water that melts naturally. We would never dream of interfering with what nature has so perfectly crafted. This is why the area is restricted: any human impact could disrupt the delicate and sensitive process.
